Is galvanized tie wire stronger than black wire?
Tensile strength is similar for the same gauge and temper — the difference is corrosion resistance. Galvanized wire lasts longer when exposed to moisture, so it is preferred outdoors or when concrete is poured after a delay.
What is the difference between electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized wire?
Electro-galvanized wire has a thin, bright zinc layer that is economical for indoor or short-term use. Hot-dip galvanized wire has a thicker coating for long-term outdoor corrosion protection.
What gauge galvanized tie wire is most common?
16 gauge (about 1.6mm) is the workhorse for hand-tying rebar, while 18 gauge (about 1.2mm) suits lighter work and many automatic tying tools. Always state both the gauge and the system (BWG or mm) on the order, because '16 gauge' differs slightly between BWG, SWG and AWG.
Is galvanized tie wire sold in coils or reels?
Both. Loose coils suit hand-tying, while spooled reels feed automatic tying tools and rebar-tying guns. We supply coil weights from small 1–1.5kg site coils up to 25–50kg bulk coils, plus OEM/private-label reels for distributors.
What is the MOQ and lead time for galvanized tie wire?
MOQ starts around one pallet for stock gauges and finishes, up to a mixed container for custom specs, with 15–30 day lead times. Every shipment can include a mill test report and AQL pre-shipment inspection before the balance payment.
