Fence staples are U-shaped nails that fasten woven, welded or barbed wire to wooden posts. Leeter produces 9-gauge staples from 1" to 2" with a 1/4" crown, smooth or barbed shank, in bright, cement-coated or hot-dip galvanized finish.

Smooth shank drives faster and suits hardwood posts. Barbed shank grips soft pine and treated posts far better — the usual choice for farm fence where staples work loose over seasons.
What size staple for field fence?
1-1/2" barbed 9-gauge is the farm standard for line wires on softwood posts; step up to 1-3/4"–2" for corner and gate posts or very soft timber.
