Actual product referenceHigh Carbon Steel Wire
Galvanized spring-grade wire, 1300–2200 MPa tensile
High carbon galvanized steel wire is drawn from 45#–82B grades for applications where strength matters: baling, tension fence lines, vineyard and greenhouse wire, and spring stock. Leeter supplies 1.25–5.50mm (18–5 BWG) with zinc coatings from 40 to 300 g/m² and tensile strength from 1300 to 2200 MPa.

High Tensile vs Mild Steel Wire: Strength Grades for Fencing and Baling
Mild wire runs 300-540 MPa; high carbon wire 1300-2200 MPa. How steel grade decides fence, baling and spring use.

Electro carries 10-40 g/m2 zinc, hot-dip 50-200+ g/m2. What that means for service life, cost and your spec.

What is the difference between high carbon and mild steel wire?
Mild steel wire (like our galvanized GI wire) runs 300–540 MPa and bends easily for tying. High carbon wire runs 1300–2200 MPa — several times stronger for the same diameter — so fence lines can be thinner, lighter and strung at higher tension without stretching.
Which grade should I specify?
45#–55# covers baling and general tension work; 65#–70# suits vineyard and high-tensile farm fence; 77B/82B reaches spring-grade strength. Tell us the working load and we will match grade, diameter and coating.
