We are Hebei Leeter Import and Export Co., Ltd ("Leeter"). Our own factory welds wire mesh and concrete reinforcing mesh in Dingzhou, Hebei — the wire-drawing base an hour from Anping — so this is a first-hand map, not a directory scrape.
The cluster map
- Anping County (Hengshui, Hebei) is the centre of gravity: 13,000+ wire mesh enterprises, ~210,000 workers, 400+ product varieties across welded and woven mesh, fencing and filter cloth. The tradition is old — silk gauze weaving from 1495, metal wire drawing from 1925 — and today Anping accounts for over half of China's wire mesh exports. If a supplier table lists twenty Chinese mesh companies, fifteen will be Anping.
- Dingzhou (Hebei) — our base — is the upstream wire-processing counterpart: drawing rod to gauge, annealing and galvanizing wire, welding mesh and making nails, anchored by the Shahe industrial zone on the G4 expressway. Mesh made here starts from wire drawn in-house rather than bought in.
- Tianjin is the gateway: the Port of Tianjin handled 23.28 million TEU in 2024, and Hebei mesh is overwhelmingly quoted FOB Tianjin (Xingang) — about 300 km, same-day trucking, from either cluster.
The economics underneath: Hebei produces roughly one-fifth to one-quarter of China's crude steel, so the low-carbon rod that becomes mesh wire is local, and conversion costs are structurally low.
Screening: the four questions that separate suppliers
With thousands of factories making visually identical products, quotes only become comparable when you pin these down:
- Galvanized before or after weld? The single biggest hidden difference. GBW (wire galvanized, then welded) burns the zinc off every weld joint — those points rust first. GAW (welded, then hot-dip galvanized) seals the joints and lasts far longer outdoors. Cheap listings say only "galvanized"; make the supplier state which, plus the zinc coating in g/m². See our GBW vs GAW guide.
- Actual wire diameter, not nominal. A "2.0 mm" mesh drawn at 1.8 mm is ~19% less steel. Specify diameter with tolerance (e.g. 2.00 ± 0.05 mm) and check it with a caliper at inspection — and compare roll/panel weight, which integrates diameter, aperture and length into one honest number.
- Factory or trader? Check the licence scope on GSXT (manufacturers list 生产/制造), ask who issues the mill test report, and request a live video of the welding line. Both exist in Anping in large numbers.
- Which standard family? US buyers need ASTM A1064; UK/EU reference BS 4483 (A/B fabrics); Australia/NZ use AS/NZS 4671 (SL/RL). A factory quoting "building mesh" without a standard is quoting its own habit. Our mesh designation reference decodes the systems.
The RFQ that gets comparable quotes
Send every factory the same specification and the spread in quotes becomes real information:
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Product | Hot-dip galvanized welded wire mesh |
| Wire diameter | 2.00 mm ± 0.05 mm (state actual, not nominal) |
| Aperture | 50 × 50 mm |
| Format | Rolls 1.0 × 30 m (or panels/sheet size) |
| Galvanizing | After welding (GAW), zinc ≥ 60 g/m² — supplier to state actual |
| Standard | ASTM A1064 / BS 4483 / AS/NZS 4671 as your market requires |
| Packing | Waterproof paper + film, palletized |
| Quantity | 1 × 20' container |
| Documentation | EN 10204 3.1 mill test report |
| Price basis | FOB Tianjin (Xingang) |
Then ask each supplier for net roll weight, rolls per container, lead time and payment terms. The comparison that matters is kilograms of steel and grams of zinc per dollar — wire diameter, aperture tolerance, zinc coating and weld shear strength — not the headline price per roll.
Typical commercial norms: MOQ from a trial pallet or ~1–5 tonnes, mixed containers accepted (mesh + tie wire + fencing from one region), lead times 20–45 days, quotes FOB Tianjin.

Frequently asked questions
Where are China's welded wire mesh suppliers located?
Overwhelmingly in Anping County, Hebei — the "wire mesh capital", with over 13,000 wire mesh enterprises, around 210,000 workers and exports to 190+ countries — plus wire-processing bases such as Dingzhou, Hebei, and port-city producers around Tianjin. Hebei's position as producer of roughly a fifth to a quarter of China's crude steel is why the industry clusters there.
How do I screen so many Anping suppliers?
Pin down four things: galvanized before vs after weld (GAW lasts far longer outdoors — make them state which, plus zinc g/m²); actual wire diameter with tolerance, verified by roll weight; factory vs trader (GSXT licence scope, who issues the mill test report, live video of the welding line); and the governing standard (ASTM A1064, BS 4483 or AS/NZS 4671). Identical RFQs to a shortlist then make quotes directly comparable.
What should a welded mesh RFQ include?
Wire diameter with tolerance, aperture, roll or panel dimensions, galvanizing method (before/after weld) and zinc coating weight, the governing standard, packing, quantity, mill-test-report requirement and the price basis (typically FOB Tianjin). Then ask for net roll weight, rolls per container and lead time — comparing kilograms of steel and zinc per dollar rather than price per roll.
What is the typical MOQ and lead time for welded mesh from China?
Trial orders from about a pallet to 1–5 tonnes are common, with mixed containers (mesh plus tie wire, fencing or nails) accepted; production lead times typically run 20–45 days. Hebei suppliers quote FOB Tianjin (Xingang), roughly 300 km — a same-day trucking run — from both Anping and Dingzhou.
Is mesh from a wire-drawing factory different from a mesh-only factory?
A factory that draws its own wire (as in Dingzhou) controls diameter, temper and coating from rod to finished mesh, and its mill test report covers its own wire. A mesh-only workshop buys wire in, so the wire's origin and certificate are one step removed — worth asking about when traceability matters to your market.
