What mesh size keeps chickens and small birds in?
1" (25mm) mesh is the standard for adult chickens; use 1/2"–3/4" (13–19mm) where chicks, songbirds or snakes are a concern. Larger 1-1/2"–2" openings suit garden fencing and reinforcement rather than bird control.
Galvanized before or after weaving — what is the difference?
Galvanized-before uses pre-coated wire, leaving tiny uncoated shear points at each twist. Galvanized-after dips the finished mesh so every joint is sealed — the better choice outdoors. PVC-coated adds a plastic jacket over either for the longest life.
